Refinery 29 & The Case for Her

This project was part of the D&AD Awards. The brief was to fight back against the taboos of menopause, while highlighting that it can effect all ages.

My concept was to utilise the English alphabet into a series of illustrations, that would be instantly recognisable and easily adaptable, known as 'The A-Z of Menopause'. As part of raising awareness and educating others, worksheets would be given to schools for students to create their own alphabet illustration based on the knowledge they gained about Menopause. "Teach them early what we learn late".

My choice of colour played a significant role within this project. I wanted women to feel empowered enough to embrace the changes their body goes through during menopause by using a bold and bright colour palette.

Within this project I also created a custom typeface using various lines interacting within the various letter shapes to create a strong, bold and cohesive typeface that stands out against the illustrations.
